In Bhagavad-Gita Krishna tells Arjuna two paths, through which human beings pass through after death. The first one being the path of illumination represented by the fire, flames, the day light, the brighter six monthly period, etc., indicating the path of illumination, IN OTHER WORDS THE PATH OF PRANIC ENERGY WHICH IS PURE, ALL PERVASIVE AND ETERNAL. THE SOULS CATCHING UP THIS PATH THROUGH SADHANA IN THEIR LIFE (IN CASE OF NON-REALISATION) WILL PASS THROUGH THIS PATH OF ILLUMINATION AFTER DISEMBODIMENT AND FINALLY THEY FLY AWAY FROM THE CYCLIC MOVEMENT OF BIRTH AND DEATH.
Krishna again tells Arjuna that the other path is through smoke, darkness, night and darker six monthly period of the year, through which the souls travel after the death to subtler regions up to lunar world from where they return to the earth putting on physical bodies. The souls passing through the first path will not return but merge in the supreme eternally remaining as the supporting energy for the world movement. While, the souls passing through the second path are expected to enjoy or suffer the results of their actions in higher subtler layers and after exhausting such results, they return to the physical world pursuant to the unfulfilled desires and resultant action.
